You may pray on a traditional 5-decade rosary, or a single 1-decade rosary that you repeat five times to say the full set of five Rosary Mysteries, or you may keep count with your fingers, or a knotted cord. When you recite the preliminary prayers before the start of the first Rosary mystery, pay attention to what you are praying. This is the time to really give close attention to the words of the prayers you are saying, as if listening to a fascinating speaker or reading a great book. Say the prayers slowly enough so you can absorb some of the meaning of the prayers. After the prelimary prayers, you focus on each Mystery, starting with the First Mystery.
