How To Pray The Rosary For Child |
This is why a Rosary has 5 decades, one decade for each of the 5 mystery stories of a set. The four sets are the Joyful Mysteries, the Sorrowful Mysteries, the Glorious Mysteries, and the Luminous Mysteries. There are twenty stories in all. When you pray the Rosary you think about one of the four sets of five stories. Each story is short but very important. Each set of mysteries is prayed on certain days so it is easy to know which one to pray. If it is Monday or Saturday, you pray the Joyful Mysteries. If it is Tuesday or Friday you pray the Sorrowful Mysteries. If it is Wednesday or Sunday you pray the Glorious Mysteries. If it is Thursday, you pray the Luminous Mysteries. You use rosary beads to keep count of the prayers and the mysteries. Besides the 5 group of ten beads, which are called the decade beads, there are 6 single beads inbetween. These are called the Our Father beads because you pray the Our Father on these single beads. On the decade beads you pray the Hail Mary, which is why these beads are also called the Hail Mary beads. To pray the rosary, you hold the crucifix and recite the Sign of the Cross and then the Apostles' Creed prayer. Then you hold the first bead and recite the Our Father. Then you hold the next bead and pray the Hail Mary, and you do the same on the next two beads, praying one Hail Mary on each bead. You finish with a Glory Be. After that, you think about the first mystery story while you pray the Our Father on the next single bead before the centerpiece, and the Hail Mary on each of the ten beads in the first decade. You finish the decade by reciting one Glory Be. You have just prayed one Rosary decade. It helps to look at a picture of the mystery story while you say your prayers until you know the stories by heart. Even after you do know the stories by memory, you may still like to look at the mystery pictures when you pray. After the first decade, you then go on to the next single bead, and think of the second mystery while you pray the Our Father, and then pray the Hail Mary on each of the next ten decade beads. You end that second rosary mystery with a Glory Be. You repeat the same thing for the next three mysteries. At the very end, you say one special prayer called the Hail Holy Queen while holding the centerpiece. Some people know the Rosary prayers by heart because they say them lots of times, while other people read them outloud from a book or pamphlet as they pray the rosary. These are the Rosary Prayers: The Sign of the Cross In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Amen. The Apostles' Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, Our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended into Hell; the third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Holy Catholic Church, the Communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen. Our Father Our Father, Who are in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done; on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. Hail Mary Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Glory Be to the Father Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Hail Holy Queen Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us; and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. |
