Chaplet of the Holy Ghost

Pattern of Beads
Holy Spirit medal, followed by 3 beads, which joins to a small jump ring.  The chain of the chaplet starts and ends on the same jump ring.  The chain begins with 2 beads, each separated with a small link of chain.  A group of 7 beads follows.  There are 5 such groups, each with 2 beads between.  In total, there are 50 beads: the 3 beginning beads, 6 sets of 2 beads (12), and the 5 groups of 7 beads (35).

Chaplet Basics
The Chaplet of the Holy Ghost consists of 5 mysteries, one per group of 7 beads.  These mysteries commemorate the Five Wounds of Jesus, the fountains of grace through which the Holy Spirit imparts to all humanity.

Chaplet Prayer
3 starting beads:
bead 1 Sign of the Cross
bead 2 Act of Contrition
bead 3 hymn Come Holy Ghost

2 starting chain beads:
bead 4 Our Father
bead 5 Hail Mary

5 groups of 7 beads:
recite a Glory be per bead, while
meditating on the mystery.

On 2 beads between each group:
Our Father
Hail Mary

End chaplet with Apostles' Creed

Final 2 beads:
(for the intention of the Sovereign Pontiff)

Our Father
Hail Mary
Glory Be

FIRST MYSTERY

By the Holy Ghost is Jesus conceived of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Meditation:  "The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the Power of the Most High shall overshadow thee; and therefore also the Holy which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God." (Luke, I, 35)

Practice:  Diligently implore the aid of the Divine Spirit, and Mary's intercession, to imitate the virtues of Jesus Christ, Who is the Model of virtues, so that you may be made comformable to the image of the Son of God.

SECOND MYSTERY

The Spirit of the Lord rested upon Jesus when he was baptized.

Meditation:  "Jesus, being baptized, forthwith came out of the water:  and lo! the heavens were opened to Him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming upon Him."  (Matthew, III, 16)

Practice:  Hold in the highest esteem the priceless gift of sanctifying grace, infused into your soul by the Holy Ghost in Baptism.  Keep the promises to which you then pledged yourself. Increase, by constant practice, Faith, Hope, and Charity.  Ever live as becometh children of God and members of God's true Church, so as to obtain, hereafter, the inheritance of heaven.

THIRD MYSTERY

By the Spirit is Jesus led into the desert to be tempted by the Devil.

Meditation:  "Jesus, being full of the Holy ghost, returned from the Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the desert for the space of forty days; and was tempted by the devil."  (Luke, IV, 1-2)

Practice:  Be ever grateful for the sevenfold gift of the Holy Ghost bestowed upon you in Confirmation, for the spirit of wisdom and understanding, of counsel and fortitude, of knowledge and piety, and of the fear of the Lord.  Faithfully yield to His Divine guidance, so that, in all the trials and temptations of life, you may act manfully, as becometh a perfect Christian and valiant soldier of Jesus Christ.

FOURTH MYSTERY

The Holy Ghost in the Church.

Meditation:  "Suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a mighty wind coming, and it filled the whole house wehre they were sitting....and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak....the wonderful works of God."  (Acts, II, 2, 4, 11.)

Practice:  Thank God for having made you a child of His Church which is ever animated and directed by the Divine Spirit, sent into this world for that purpose of the day of Pentecost.  Hear and obey the Holy See, the infallible mouthpiece of the Holy Ghost, and the Church, the pillar and ground of truth.  Uphold her doctrines, seek her interests, defend her rights.

FIFTH MYSTERY

The Holy Ghost in the soul of the just man and just woman.

Meditation:  "Know you not that you members are the temple of the Holy Ghost, Who is in you?" (I Cor., VI, 19.)

"Extinguish not the Spirit."  (I Thess., V, 19.)

"And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God whereby you are sealed unto the day of redemption."  (Eph., IV, 30.)

Practice:  Be ever mindful of the Holy Ghost Who is within you, and carefully cultivate purity of soul and body.  Faithfully obey His Divine Inspirations so that you may bring forth the Fruits of the Spirit -- Charity, Joy, Peace, Patience, Benignity, Goodness, Long-suffering, Mildness, Faith, Modesty, Continency, Chastity.

History, Description and Prayers of the Chaplet of the Holy Ghost

History

A Franciscan Capuchin missionary back in 1892 wrote this chaplet as a way for the faithful to honor the Holy Ghost, the same way as the Rosary honors the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Ten years later, in 1902,
Pope Leo XIII approved the Chaplet of the Holy Ghost that had been written by the English province Capuchin missionary.

The Sign of the Cross
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.

Act of Contrition
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You. I detest all my sins because I dread the loss of Heaven and the pains of hell. But most of all because they offend You, my God, Who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace to sin no more and to avoid the near occasions of sin. Amen.

Come, Holy Ghost
Come, Holy Spirit, fill my heart with Your holy gifts.  Let my weakness be penetrated with Your strength this very day that I may fulfill all the duties of my state conscientiously, that I may do what is right and just. Let my charity be such as to offend no one, and hurt no one's feelings; so generous as to pardon sincerely any wrong done to me. Assist me, O Holy Spirit, in all my trials of life, enlighten me in my ignorance, advise me in my doubts, strengthen me in my weakness, help me in all my needs, protect me in temptations and console me in afflictions. Graciously hear me, O Holy Spirit, and pour Your light into my heart, my soul, and my mind. Assist me to live a holy life and to grow in goodness and grace. Amen.

Our Father
Our Father, Who are in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done; on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory Be to the Father
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, Our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended into Hell; the third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Holy Catholic Church, the Communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
